Imagining this week as a stress ball - 2:58 p.m.
I wish this week were a stress ball, as it would have made a good one. Unfortunately, with all the stress of this week, I didn't have time to use a stress ball even if I had one.
1^infinity : College decision!
I have made my official [if you want to call it that] decision. Agnes Scott it is. I could list all the perks and bore you with some statistics, but I would get bored writing all of them out, as there are so many.
2.71828 : All those papers!
I actually finished all those papers, by the way, even though one of them was just a draft. I let Dr. Perry read it and we narrowed down my thesis to one central part of the plot, which basically means that I have to rewrite half the thing.
I also still haven't finished reading Origins of the Second World War, and the paper is due on 11 April. I had to put it aside for awhile because I had to read another book, All Quiet on the Western Front, which was going to be on today's test. I think I did okay on those questions even though I read only half the book. That book, unlike Origins, is really good, so I'm going to finish it after all this madness is over.
3.14159 : All those projects!
Just when I thought I had enough to do, what with that to-do list, Dra. Mason gave us another project, an interview with a native Spanish speaker. This is due on 11 April. Of course, if you paid attention, you know that I have something else due on that day. Sigh.
As far as the senior project goes, I have completed 3.25 hours [out of 15] so far. I finished Le Petit Prince, but I haven't even started to write the pastiche yet. At this rate, I don't think I'll ever start. Oh, and guess when these people want my portfolio [and, presumably, my completed project]?
4 May. That's the day of my calculus final.
(4/3)pi*r^2 : The good, the bad, and the worse!
I have good news, bad news, and worse news, in that order. Yes, that means that if it weren't for the good news, I wouldn't have to worry about the bad news, and if it weren't for the bad news, I wouldn't have to worry about the worse news. While the good news really is good, I don't enjoy the prospect of the bad news and the worse news.
[.5h(b1+b2)] : The Joke!
I played the best April Fool's joke today.
No. I can't back that up. I've seen some really good ones.
I turned in my senior paper, my Death of a Salesman essay, and the first draft of my English paper today. Since today was 1 April, I decided to have a little fun. I remembered the English paper that Strong Bad wrote for a kid who didn't want to write one. It was hilarious! So I went to the site, printed out two copies, and turned it in along with the real paper, making sure to change "Kyle 'The Yellow Dart' Smith" to my name [but leaving "The Yellow Dart" in place]. When I turned in the English paper, I told Dr. Perry, "Here's my paper," while holding up Strong Bad's paper.
"Okay," he said. "Just put it on the pile."
I grabbed a stapler, tried not to laugh, stapled the paper, put the paper in the pile, and handed him the draft of my research paper. "You might want to read it," I told him, pointing to the joke paper.
"Oh, I won't get to those until Monday," he said.
I panicked a little. Luckily he was still reading, so I slipped the real paper on top of the joke one. Somehow after reading all those papers, I think he'll need a laugh.
*
I did the same thing at the high school, only I had Strong Bad's paper on top of the real paper. I forgot to staple it, so when I handed the paper to Mrs. Kopanke, she just stapled the entire paper together without even looking at it. I tried not to laugh, but it didn't work. I cracked up. She didn't ask. She's going to be shocked when/if she reads it.
You can see the joke version of the paper here. Just go there, click "sbemails", and scroll down until you see "English paper". Make sure to turn the sound up!
And speaking of April Fool's Day, Happy Birthday to Fred and George Weasley!
